Pass the Test, Stick Around

Several members of the club passed significant, though non-running related, exams in the recent weeks. Sean Kelly and Farrell Malone passed preliminary exams in their respective graduate programs, sociology and economics. Additionally, Gundy Gremel has passed the necessary exam(s) (which more than likely has a name, unknown at this time) and is now officially a registered nurse. There are no reports of Wednesday night runners needing her services (yet). Further, it is unknown at this time if we spelled her name correctly. Stay tuned.

Fall 15K - Volunteer, Anyone?

The club-sponsored Fall 15K in Warner Park is quickly approaching. Everyone should reserve the morning of October 20, 2002 for volunteering to help out. Help is needed across the board. More details to come.

New School Year, New People, New Runners, New News

Given this is perhaps the first weekend for many returning to Madison after the summer, a quick note regarding these pages is in order. Check back here on the 1st and 15th of each month for race results, general news, and otherwise interesting stuff. For example, what other fora would prove as appropriate as this for publication of Dr. Scott Segal's thesis defense? Note to those of you on the waiting list for his abstract: the Dr. will respond to your queries in the order they were received.

Send Us Your Race Results

Not that anyone's keeping track...but publishing your results gives club-members a better sense of how active the members are and lets everyone else know in the process. Send results here.
Upcoming races
Janesville Half-Marathon, Sep. 8, 2002

Several UWRC runners are making the trip to Janesville for this race. Good timing and distance for fall marathon training. There is an associated 10K for those preferring that distance. Contact Farrell Malone for details - rides can and will be provided.

Chicago Marathon - October 13, 2002

Given the popularity of this race, we are looking into forming a team and taking a shot at the team challenge. The added amenities make it worthwhile (ie lots of goodies on the side). If you are running the marathon and are interested in finding out more, send an email here.
