Race results

Twin Cities Marathon,  September 29, 2002

Brian Forney and Matt Jarosz were up in the Twin Cities for this early fall marathon.  Oregon Project runner Dan Browne won the race (a marathon debut) in a quick 2:11 and change.  Perhaps the Americans are getting faster?

Greater Hartford Half-Marathon, October 12, 2002

The WiLdMaN has struck again.  Randy Wildman and Ronnie Carda were in Hartford, CT.  (yes, as in Connecticut) over the past weekend for the Greater Hartford Marathon and Half-Marathon.  Ronnie was overheard describing his post race condition as "a little stiff."  We guess that is allowed.

Chicago Marathon, October 13, 2002 -- full results next month (notable:  New Women's world record holder Paula Radcliffe: 2:17:18).

Club news

News from the Twin Cities:

Jackie Smith, a recent grad of UW and club-member, reports from Minneapolis:

After graduating from UW with a pharmacy degree, now I'm up in Minneapolis practicing pharamcy and still running.  My fiance and I ran in the Twin Cities marathon.  I ran a 3:30 (a 12 minute PR !!), and my fiance, Justin Stakston, rana 2:32.  Thought I'd pass this good news along.

Jackie: Thanks for the update.  You are going to have one fast husband!!!

2 Down, 1 to Go

Club-members have tackled 2 of the 3 bigger fall marathons in the past few weeks.  Expect news from Chicago next month (indeed there is too much to cover here), as well as a report from the Big Apple as the club sends some of its best that direction.

Fall 15K is October 20, 2002

The Fall 15K is just days away.  Everyone should come out to help the club put on this annual event.  This year promises to be the largest year yet, with the addition of online registration the numbers are larger than ever.  The race is set for the morning of Sunday, October 20--be sure to be there!

Saturday Run Report

Word on the street is the Saturday Run has just surpassed the Wednesday night track workout as "best club run of the week."  The variety of paces, distances, and routes provide something for everyone, as do the bagels and assorted carb-filled concoctions we get from Einstein's each Saturday.  The runs will continue through the winter, snow or shine!  Just show up!!  Email Brian Forney or Farrell Malone if you have questions.
